Washington Webb, as known as “Wash” was born in Cresswell, North Carolina on November 1, 1926, the son of Dezzie Webb. He was one of six children who all preceded him in death.
At the age of 13, he traveled to Philadelphia with his uncle and aunt, John and Mary Webb. He attended and graduated from St. Joseph Prep School.
“Wash” served for a short time in the United States Army. Upon his discharge, he went to work at the Quartermaster in Philadelphia for a short time. He also had his own contracting business, where he worked for several years. In addition, he worked at the Philadelphia Post Office. He was awarded many distinguished service awards. He retired from the Post Office after 44 years of service.
“Wash” was married to Irene Littlejohn for 71 years. They were the parents of six children. They were loving and devoted parents who raised their children to contribute their best to society. Sadly, Irene preceded him in death after 71 years of marriage. His children thank him for being a good provider to his family.
Quietly and peacefully on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, God in His infinite wisdom determined that our Beloved Washington Webb had suffered enough, and closed his eyes and entered him into Eternal rest. He will be reunited with his Beloved “Rene” and daughter Carmen, mother, dad, and his siblings.
“Wash will forever be remembered by his children: Delores Jordan, Sharon and Joel Tolliver, Sr., Gregory Webb, James Webb, and Karen Barber; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who were very close to him.
Rest peacefully Dad. We will miss you,
Your Children
