OBITUARY FOR WALLACE ESLEY ROBINSON
Wallace Esley Robinson was born on April 11, 1937 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. He was the youngest of six children born to the late Marion Louise Robinson (nee Henry) and the late Harry M. Robinson. Our dear Wallace was called to glory on April 19,2022.
Fondly known as Uncle Wa Wa to his nieces and nephews, Wallace was educated in the Philadelphia School District and graduated from Bartram High School in 1955. Upon his graduation, Wallace enlisted in the United States Army and served his country for four years.
Wallace received and honorable military discharge and went on to earn a BS in Accounting from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA. Wallace was employed by the United States Government for more than 40 years.
While employed with the government, Wallace met Dorothy Hamm who he married in 1973 and to whom he remained married until her death in 2020. Wallace was very active in the community. He assisted on the voting polls and was instrumental in forming the Montgomery County Chapter of NARFE, The National Association for Retired Federal Employees. Wallace was also our family historian. As an active member of the African American Genealogy Group, he was able to trace our ancestry back to the 1800’s. Wallace also served on the board of the IMHOTEP Charter school in Philadelphia, PA.
In 1989, Wallace and his wife Dorothy became members of St James Roman Catholic Church, where they served as Eucharistic ministers for many years.
Wallace leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories to all of us, especially his sister Mary White, his stepdaughter Sherrai Hamm, his great niece and goddaughter Dr. Nicole Santerre, 5 nieces, 1 nephew, 9 other great nieces and nephews, 11 great-great nieces and nephews and a host of other family members and dear friends. Our Uncle Wallace will be deeply missed.
