Vivian T. Ancrum, was born on November 1, 1928, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late William I. Butcher and Evangeline Woods.
Vivian was educated in The Philadelphia public school system. After attending West Philadelphia High School, Vivian was employed by Haverford Laundry until their closing. She was also employed by various other laundry services until she excepted a receptionist position at her brother Junior’s small business.
Vivian met Abram “Sonny” Ancrum and in 1952 they were married. From this union two children were born, Mark and Tracy.
Vivian enjoyed sitting in her rocking chair watching various TV shows such as, animal shows, Perry Mason, workout/exercise shows. She also enjoyed going to the movies, The Philadelphia Zoo, and loved going on long walks up 59th street and around St Joseph’s University. She also made time to read some books and she enjoyed reading the Bible and The Daily Bread.
Vivian was preceded in death by her devoted husband Abram “Sonny” Ancrum, siblings Louis Butcher, Leroy Butcher, Leora Simmons, and Eleanor Wilson. On Wednesday, December 8, 2021, God called Vivian home. She leaves to cherish her loving memory: her beloved son, Mark Ancrum ( Barbara); loving daughter, Tracy Garlin (Doug); sisters, Anna Gomez and Mary Johnson; brother, William Butcher Jr.; four sisters-in-law; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and friends who loved and cherished her.
