Sharriff Henderson Obituary

The Obituary

Sharriff Darcel Henderson was born May 27, 1957 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  She was the daughter of the late Alexander McMillan and Frances Henderson.

Known affectionately by friends and family as “Dot”, Sharriff was raised by her mother, grandmother Fannie Carter and big sister Eileen Henderson at 2716 N. 11th Street in the heart of North Philadelphia.  She attended the Philadelphia public school system and graduated from high school.

At the early age of 17 she gave birth to the love of her life, her first son Jahmai Henderson.  Even though she was young, she was a wonderful mother to her firstborn.  She used all means of transportation to ensure that he attended daycare daily and was overall well cared for.

Dot held several positions in her lifetime – her first in a clerical capacity with Smith Kline Pharmaceuticals on Spring Garden Street in Philadelphia.  She later worked with Wilson and Wilson Insurance Company in Camden, New Jersey.

In 1980 Dot gave birth to her second son, Che, followed a few years later by daughter, Lenecia, and then son, Chaim Henderson.

Dot was an amazing cook, and her love of cooking eventually led her to attend the Community College of Philadelphia, where she earned an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts.

Always very stylish, Dot love to put together sharp outfits for herself.  She was very caring and helped charities both local and abroad.   She enjoyed listening to music – her favorite musical artists were Prince, Michael Jackson and Anita Baker.  Dot will be remembered most for being a beautiful young lady with a loving and caring spirit.  Whenever she was around, people were intrigued by her and wanted to know who she was.

On October 13, 2021 God called Sharriff Home.  She leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories to: three sons, Jahmai; Che and Chaim; one daughter, Lenecia; sister, Eileen Lott (Earl); nephew Anthony Henderson (“Tony”); one uncle, Albert; one aunt, Lucinda; grandchildren Jahmai, Jayden, Jayar, Aaliyah; Anecia and King Teddy, the pup; good friends Tangy and Vivian Webb of Camden, New Jersey.

Dear Dot: Thank you for being a part of our lives.  Love Edward Massey and your Delaware family, your beautiful children, relatives and true friends.  We will forever miss you.  Your grandkids will know how much you loved them and we all will never ever forget you.
