Sabrina Carter-Dolby was born Aug 15, 1955 to the late Barbara Jean & Herman Leon Carter Sr, in Mamaroneck, NY. She moved to Philadelphia with her Mom & Brothers & once she finished her schooling, she began working for the Philadelphia Electric Company. Sabrina lived an exuberant life & eventually retired from the Philadelphia Parking Authority.
Sabrina gave birth to 2 son’s Ryan and Sean, whom she feverishly loved unconditionally. On her good days, bad days, & all in between, she was intelligent, had an infectious smile, a love for spoken word, an avid music lover and loved to dance. She also loved the Holidays! Thanksgiving and Christmas brought her the most joy.
Sabrina would literally do anything in her power to help Family and Friends who were in need. To all whom loved her dearly, never forget her tenacity, wit, charm, grace & undying love that she had for you. Mom was renowned for her lack of patience, not holding back her opinion & a knack for telling it like it is.
It was the school of hard knocks & yes, we were told many times, “Sometimes… it just is, what it is” and “To always put your best foot forward”. Mom was genuine to a fault, a lion at heart & sugar coated nothing. She will be dearly missed & forever in our hearts.
Sabrina is preceded in Glory by both parents, Barbara Jean & Herman Carter Sr, & her late brother Bradley Carter.
With profound sadness our beloved Sabrina was called to Glory on Monday, December 13, 2021. She was preceded in Glory by both parents, Barbara Jean & Herman Carter Sr, & her late brother Bradley Carter. She is cherished and survived by a family that she was very proud of: her son’s, Ryan (Heather) & Sean Dolby; her adored 5 grand-children, Rhyen, Rymir, Shamaya, Serenity & Royce; and a precious great-grand daughter, Nu’or. She is also survived by her brother’s, Herman (Gayle), Julian, Kevin, & Leonard Carter; her sister’s, Dana Dean-Gardner & Judi; and a very special & dear cousin: “Jeannie.” Sabrina will be remembered by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom she loved to touch & talk too deeply, & was recently blessed with a Care Giver who became her close friend Chanel.
