The Obituary
Rose Mae Ray was born on May 5, 1943 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late Jesse Dyer and Dorothy Green Tyner. She had two brothers, Wendel Tyner and William Green.
Born and raised in North Philadelphia, Rose was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System. graduated from Simon Gratz High School. While in pursuit of her education, she soon met her soulmate, the late Charles Oliver Ray, Jr. Charles and Rose married on April 8, 1961. They were two that became one. You did not see one without the other as they were always together. They shared a loving union for more than forty years until Charles was called home in 2001.
Rose worked in the hospitality and caretaker fields. She was the Maid of Mrs. Lipton (Lipton Soup) for many years before she retired. Rose was also a well-skilled seamstress who taught the family how to make their own clothes. She made those beautiful drapes for her Church, Ambassadors for Christ Baptist Church.
Rose was a faithful member at Ambassador for Christ Baptist Church. She became the Mother of the Church in 2017, had perfect attendance for her Bible classes and was awarded the most improved spiritual growth award. Rose loved her Church family, and her favorite Scriptures were John 3:16, 2nd Timothy 2:15 and 2nd Corinthians 13:5.
Rose gave birth to Seven Children whom she now leaves behind as part of her legacy:
Charlette H. Robinson, and her husband Alfonso Robinson, Sr.; Charles Ray III and his wife Melissa; Kenneth Ray and his wife Michelle; Kevin Ray, Sr., and his wife Gina; Mark Ray, Sr., and his wife Deneen; Curtis Ray, Sr. and his wife Adrienne; and Rachelle Kelly Ray. From this Ray family tree also came twenty-five grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind the Ray family Nieces and Nephews, her Aunt Evelyn (Aunt Brownie) and her Husband Uncle James, and Cousins—the Craftons, the Greens, and the Wilsons.
