Rose Oliphant Obituary

Rose Oliphant, age 101, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at St. Francis Nursing Home.

Rose McCollum was born on July 18, 1918 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Katie and William McCollum.  Although she was the second of eleven children, she was the last to receive her heavenly wings.

Rose married Andrew Butler and from that union came Leonard and Shirley.  Leonard proceeded her in death in 1974.

Later in life Rose met and married John Thomas Oliphant.  Both possessed a great love for the Lord and became members of Grace Baptist Church of Germantown in 1968.  John remained a faithful member until his death in 1978. When Rose became physically unable to attend services, Grace Baptist Church never forgot she was a member by providing communion every month, that she so faithfully looked forward to.

Rose always had a big heart and was totally committed to her family.  She raised her niece Phyllis and nephew Wayne as though they were her own.  There was always a soft spot in her heart for her great grandson, Brandon.

Rose always had a flair for hair and aspired to learn the skills of a beautician.  She was an ardent shopper, loved clothes, children and spending precious time with family and friends.

Rose was survived by her daughter Shirley, grandchildren Jackie (Dereck Coleman, Husband) and Lorrie (Vincent Alston, Husband), Great Grandson Brandon, Great, Great, Granddaughter Brianna, Niece Phyllis (Melvin Clemmons, Husband and Nephew Wayne. And a host of Nieces and Nephews.

Services will be held at a later date.
