The Life Story of Rosalyn Joyce Curry

Rosalyn Joyce Curry was born to the late Daniel and Evelyn Williams (Hines) on April 6, 1955 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Rosalyn was the fourth out of six daughters.

Rosalyn received both her primary and secondary education via the Philadelphia Public School system.  After high school, Rosalyn had a daughter—Nicohle—with Frederick Burrage (deceased).  She also studied to become a certified nursing assistant, but then switched paths to become an early childhood education assistant and then retail bookkeeping.

During this time, she also committed her life to Jesus Christ and joined Grace Temple Church, Inc.  While there, she was a member of numerous auxiliary groups including committees and choirs, leading her to become the Head female Trustee and one of the financial church secretaries.  She also met and married Charles L. Curry, Sr.  From that union, came two more children—Charles II and Michael.

After the birth of her sons, Rosalyn became a stay-at-home mom caring for her children and husband.  The family ultimate decided to move to Elkins Park, a suburb of Philadelphia in 2001.  There, she met a host of new friends.  Sadly, her husband Charles Sr. succumbed to cancer in May of 2018 and more recently, her youngest son Michael passed away suddenly in January 2021.

Rosalyn was the backbone of the family—always ensuring that everyone was safe and comfortable.  She was a quiet force of nature, but had a great sense of humor, caring and very protective of her family and inner circle of friends.  She was dedicated to God and always shared words of encouragement and advice.  She was the ultimate mother, sister, aunt, friend that was supportive and loyal.

Rosalyn leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories to: her children Nicohle and Charles II; sisters Gwen, Diana, Linda, Youlanda; brother-in-law Ronald (Laura, deceased); sisters-in-law Glenda and Wanda; nephews Christopher, Kenyatte and David; nieces Kenya, Jessica, Kascey, Kathey, Davell, Natasha and Ashley; great-niece Noni, great-nephew Cameron and a host of other family and friends.
