The Obituary

On June 22, 2023 at 4:57pm, our Lord and Savior chose our dear Robin from the garden of life for her eternal rest. Robin will be remembered by all who knew and loved her, as a gentle and compassionate soul who lived her life to the fullest and without regret.
Robin was born in Philadelphia, PA on September 18, 1963 to the late Joe Louis Woodard and the late Alma Woodard. Robin accepted Christ at an early age and loved the Lord, joining the Wynnefield Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia.
Robin was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System attending Samuel Gompers Elementary School, Dimner Beeber Jr. High School and graduated from Overbrook High School in 1981.
Following graduation, Robin entered the California University of Pennsylvania in the fall of 1981 where she received her bachelor’s degree in Natural Science. Robin enjoyed campus life participating as a member of Young, Gifted & Black Gospel Choir and the Black Student League at California University of Pennsylvania. Robin also became a Kappa Sweetheart, social group to the Fraternity Kappa Alpha Psi, Incorporated, in March of 1982.
Robin was initially employed by Quaker Chemical and then moved on to Rohm and Haas in Philadelphia following her graduation. During a vacation to California to visit her cousins Greg and Edwina, a seed was planted to move from Philly to California. She remained with Rohm and Hass until her health declined. She left the company but maintained close ties with her former coworkers.
Robin settled in Union City, CA 1988 and joined the Family Bible Fellowship Church, pastored by Horacio Jones, Senior Pastor. She quickly united with her new church family serving in Newark, CA and surrounding communities with her focus in the Tri-City Community Ministry Dolly’s Closet” with gathering and distribution of used clothing to those in need. This became her mission in life and she dedicated many hours to the effort in the name of Christ.
Robin had an infectious laugh and smile that she shared with all who encountered her, even in those times when her health would have stopped others from smiling. She had a great love for music, from gospel to R&B, soul, to jazz, to hip hop/rap, and even commercial jingles, which she performed with her sister Terri and niece Jennifer. No matter the genre, Robin was ready to sing it, dance to it, to celebrate it…and she knew all the lyrics! Robin loved to travel typically tied to her birthday including Hawaii, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Aruba and many other locations just to relax her mind and refresh her spirit. She was a world class snacker (salty and sweet), loved to read her “naughty” historical romance novels, and had a great sense of humor. Above all, Robin was a fighter. Regardless of how her health fluctuated, she was determined to enjoy life with her family and friends. Her incredible resiliency, courage, and bravery will continue to inspire us all. She was truly our “SHERO!!!”
After 33 years in California, Robin most recently relocated to Florida to be closer to her sister Terri and other family on the East Coast.
Robin leaves to cherish her memory… her sister Terri Woodard (Ana) of Aventura, FL., her brother Arnold Woodard of Richmond, Virginia, her nieces Jennifer Lee and Jessica Bakr. Her nephews, Arnold Woodard, II, and Zachariah Woodard, her bonus sister, Debb Woodard and a host of cousins, extended family and close friends.
Lovingly Submitted, The Family
