Pattie B. Siler was born on March 25, 1938, in Liberty, North Carolina to Clarence and Pearl Gilmer. She attended public school in Liberty and married William Siler at an early age prior to relocating to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Together they had eleven children including one set of twin boys. Their children, Carl, Clarence, Christopher, Carolyn, Claudia, Cheryl, Cilicia, Cletus, Clay, Patrick and Donald. She often joked that she ran out of C names after 9 children and having her twins. She also raised two sets of grandchildren, Rodney and Ronnie Johnson & Twanique and Carl Siler, whom she reared as her own.
Mom worked for many years as a caregiver for healthcare organizations in the Philadelphia area, but her greatest passion was sharing the gospel and love of God wherever she went. Mom was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy for over forty years where she studied and earned ministry credentials and served the Lord as a minister for many years. She helped wherever she could throughout the Philadelphia community and served through hand–praise and assisting with bringing Christian services to nursing homes later in life.
Mom was fiercely dedicated to her children, teaching and encouraging them to seek the Lord, be kind, work hard, and accomplish great things. She also greatly loved and encouraged her entire family, including nieces and nephews, through several generations.
Mom was predeceased by her mother and father, Pearl and Clarence Gilmer, sisters and brothers, Edward, James, Robert, and Andrew Gilmer, her sisters, Joan King, Mable Shoffner, and DeLacey Chambers, and her children, Carl, Clarence, and Patrick Siler and Claudia Lacy.
On Saturday, December 16, 2023, surrounded by four generations of her family, God called our mom home. She is survived by: sons, Christopher, Cletus, and Donald Siler and their wives; daughters, Carolyn Finklea, Cheryl Siler, and Cilicia Siler; grandchildren, Thomas Siler, Tyree Siler, Carl Siler, Twanique Siler, Clay Siler, Audia Siler, Elishah Siler, Isiaih Siler, Keith Siler, Ronald Siler; and a host of nieces and nephews, and friends.
Family and serving God came first and was above all else to Mom. This is also a value she instilled in all those around her. The hole left by Mom’s absence is impossible to fill.
