Lauretta Christian was born to the late Helen and Arthur Christian Sr. Lauretta also known as Retta was the eldest of six children.
She accepted Christ at an early age. Lauretta is preceded in death by her brothers: Arthur Jr., Gary and Marion.
Lauretta completed her education through the Philadelphia school system, graduating from William Penn high school for girls in 1959.
After giving birth to her only son (David) Lauretta was employed by Internal Revenue Service as a data typist in 1967. She would later retire from the Internal Revenue Service in 1997.
During her retirement, Lauretta became a member of the IRS 25-year club and the Philadelphia IRS club. She also enjoyed watching soap operas, The Young and the Restless and the Bold and the Beautiful. One of her favorite talk shows was the Real. Lauretta was an avid sports fan who love watching women’s basketball, whether it was college or WNBA, track and field events. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, family reunions, going to the movies and watching movies at home with her sister Debbie.
Lauretta was called home by Our Lord & Savior to receive her reward on September 1, 2021 after her brief illness. Her devoted son David took exceptional care of her to assure that she had the quality of life that she deserved. Lauretta leaves to celebrate her Legacy: her devoted son, Charles David Christian; grandson, Charles E. Ryan-Christian; sisters, Debra Christian, Yvonne Williams, Jeanne Joynes; brother, William Christian also known as Ra’uf Abdullah; aunt, Dorothy Odoms; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.
