Jacqueline Elmira Poole was born at Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on November 29, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Virgin S. and Josie Lee Hentz.
Jacqueline was educated in the Philadelphia public school system, and graduated from high school. She met and married the late George W. Poole and the two were the proud parents of three children.
At an early age Jacqueline accepted the Lord as her personal savior and was baptized. She had a love for music that began in her childhood and continued throughout her life, which led her to serve the Lord through her gift of song. In adulthood Jacqueline joined the Second Baptist Church, where she was a proud member for more than 44 years. She served as the leader of the soprano section for the Chancel Choir, as well as the choir Librarian, and member of the Second Baptist music committee. With her beautiful voice and diligent service to the church, Jacqueline was a beloved member of the Second Baptist family.
A devoted wife and mother, Jacqueline was extremely involved in the daily activities of her children, making sure they were handling their school work, involved in their community and building meaningful relationships with others. She had many activities, and one of her favorites was serving as a den mother with the Cub Scout Troop 403. In her spare time, she loved travelling with her family – spending vacations and extended weekends with her children and grandchildren.
On Friday, March 20, 2020, God in His infinite wisdom called Jacqueline home, where she joins her beloved George, and two sons: James (“Jimmy”), and Anthony (“Tony”) Edwards. She leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories to: two sons, Eric T. Poole and Michael A. Poole; one daughter, Michele E. Brown; one daughter-in-law, Angela; one son-in-law, Vernon; seven grandchildren, Sharon, Dominick, Cherise, Cecelia, Maurice, Nicholas and Julian; several other loving family members and special friends, including her “Pleasant Street Posse” members, Thelma Austin and Angie Faulkner.
