The sun arose with Gwendolyn M. Harris on January 27, 1950 to Hilliard and Ethel Sumner in Philadelphia, PA.
As Gwen grew up, she graduated from Girls High School and went on to receive an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration. Gwen started to work for Bell Tell Pennsylvania from 1972 to 1984. One of the positive notes with Bell Co., was that you could hear Gwen’s voice telling the time and temperature. In 1984, she began working for AT&T as an Executive Marketing director for Montgomery and Bucks counties until 1992. In 1992, she worked for Harleysville Insurance and retired in 2002.
During this time in her life, Gwen met the love of her life, Clarence M. Harris in 1976 and they were engaged in 1978. Gwen and Clarence were married in 1979 and their marriage was blessed for 42 years. One of the most precious memories they shared together outside of traveling together, was their relationship with Faith Lutheran Church. The blessing of the many relationships and fellowship with the church families blessed them as they lived in Lansdale, Pennsylvania.
The sun went down on Gwen’s life on Tuesday, November 23, 2021. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, (Hilliard and Ethel Sumner Sr.), brother, (Hilliard Jr.), and sister, (Barbara). She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving husband, Clarence; brother, Gary Sumner; sister-in-law (Katherine Gaffney-Golden), sister-in-law, (Barbara Fair); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
