Gregory Charles Lofton, Jr., affectionally called “Charlie”, was born on July 7, 1970 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was the first child of Gregory Charles Lofton, Sr. and Barbara Jean Lofton. In 1980, Omarr Lofton was born making them a family of four and Charlie an older brother.
In 1991, Charlie graduated from Elwin High School in Cheltenham School District. Shortly after he began working at the Development Enterprise Corporation as a packager and continued his work there until May 2022.
Charlie had a special connection to the number 7. His birthdate was 7/7/70, he weighed 7lbs, 7oz at birth, and he was the 7th grandchild of Joseph and Pearl Lofton. In the Bible, 7 is a holy number often representing completion or divine fulfillment. The love Charlie had for his family and the love they gave to him was nothing less than full and complete.
Charlie showed his love by looking out for everyone else. After a meal or a get together, he was usually the first person to gather the dishes and clean up. Throughout the week, but especially on Saturdays, he helped his mother with chores and had an affinity for neatness. Other times, you could find him keeping his dad company in the basement where they watched TV. He enjoyed music, sports, and fine dining.
Charlie was diagnosed with cancer in 2017 and fought his best until the Lord called him home on Saturday, July 9, 2022. He leaves to celebrate his life: parents, Gregory and Barbara Lofton; brother, Omarr Lofton; sister-in-law, Tiffanie Lofton; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
