The Obituary
Gloria Pearl Hewlett was born on August 21, 1926. She was the first born of ten children to the late Margaret Hewlett.
Gloria was educated in the Philadelphia public school system. After graduating, she gained employment in the garment industry. She moved to New York for a brief period of time and then returned to Philadelphia and worked for the Budd Automotive Company, along with several other jobs.
Always the life of the party, Gloria was extremely funny, and always dancing. She was known for her off-the-wall and edgy jokes.
Gloria was a caregiver and loving family member. She doted on her siblings and was there for them always when they needed help. The pride and joy of her life was her son Antonio – “Dana”, as she affectionately called him.
On Thursday, July 29, 2021, God in His infinite wisdom called Gloria home where she was preceded in death by her mother, and five siblings: Alfonso, Melvin, Carolyn, Cecilia and Gene. She leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories to: her son, Antonio; two sisters, Barbara and Cynthia; two brothers, James and Johnny; a legacy of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends.
