The Obituary
Freddie Lee Johnson was born on May 25, 1933 to the late Estelle Washington in Brooksville Florida. At the age of 12 she moved to New Brunswick, NJ., and was educated in the New Jersey School System. After graduation she worked as an OR Tech at St Peters Hospital in New Brunswick. She enjoyed this successful career until she retired from Chestnut Hill Hospital in 1992.
She met the late Samuel Conover Sr., and from this union she was blessed with 6 children. Later in life
Freddie was remarried to Stanley M Johnson Sr. from this union she was blessed with three more children, and they moved the family to Philadelphia.
Freddie Lee was a member of Triumph Baptist Church in Philadelphia.
She loved to travel to various parts of the world always bringing back a magnet for the fridge. She was fond of cruises and looked forward to the family reunions with her Washington family, and the annual reunion at Dorney Park with buses filled with her family leaving from her home on the 3800 Block of North 19th Street. As the Matriarch, she enjoyed every moment with her family, she attended all major events in her children and grandchildren’s lives. The thing she loved most of all was hosting Thanksgiving Dinner and seeing her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren all love and fight over her hello dollies & cheesecake
Freddie Lee grew up surround her aunts and uncles who she loved a great deal, at the time of her death she was the eldest member of the Washington Family.
On February 25, 2021, the Lord called her home
She is preceded in death by her Husband Stanley M Johnson Sr. her mother Estelle Washington , 1 daughter Priscilla Rose Conover Smith-Shepherd, 3 sons Donald Conover, Jeffery Conover , and Darryl Johnson, grandson Stanley Johnson III (Boo Boo), great granddaughter Catherine Carmichael. Grand Parents Jessie and Ollie Washington, and her special aunt Elmira Washington-Blount.
She is survived by 2 daughters Patricia A. Conover -Diggs and Wendy Conover-Minor (Bruce) of Philadelphia , Pa. 3 sons Samuel E. Conover Jr, of East Hartford, CT., Stanley M. Johnson II, of Philadelphia, Pa., and Calvin K. Johnson of Virginia Beach, Va. And daughter in law Edna Conover of New York.
She also leaves to cherish her memories a host of 24 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren , 15 great-great grandchildren, in-laws and extended family and friends.
