Florence Bernetta (Ford) Doster-White, age 84, was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey on September 14, 1941, to Ralph Ford and Frances Humphreys Scafe.
Florence dedicated over 25 years of service to the City of Atlantic City Municipal Authorities, working in various departments, and later with the Atlantic City Police Department’s Detective Bureau. After retiring, she moved to Philadelphia, where she continued her career with an architectural firm before retiring a second time.
Florence loved traveling, visiting the casino, cooking, and spending time at the beach. She had a warm and generous spirit, loved being around people, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She was raised in the Baptist church and carried her faith throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mrs. Frances Ford Scafe and Ralph Ford, Her husband Robert E. White and her siblings Albert Humphreys Sr. (NY), Lillian Merriweather Still, Thomas Ford Sr (CA), Paul Ford (Atlantic City, NJ), and Arthur Ford (FL).
Florence is survived by her brother Robert Ford (Betty Ford) of Pleasantville, NJ; her three children, Dwayne Doster (Sarah) of Washington, D.C., Michael Doster (Yulanda Doster) of North Carolina, and Michelle Doster Ortiz (Ramon Ortiz) of Virginia; along with several grandchildren — Joseph Rios Jr., Paige Doster, Ashley Doster, and Ebony Arrington — and many great-grandchildren.
Florence will be remembered for her kindness, humor, and unwavering love for her family and friends.
