Edith A. King was born to John and Anne Abraham on July 13, 1926 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
They moved to Darlington, South Carolina in search of a better life for their children: Mabel, Leroy, Anne, JD, Luther, Eleanor, and Sonny Boy.
Edith was preceded in death by her one and only son Rudolph King; sisters, Mabel and Anne; brothers, Leroy, Luther, and Sonny Boy. Edith was also preceded in death by her first-born grandson David who passed one year to the day as Edith.
Edith was educated in Philadelphia public school system. She worked all her life to take care of everyone else standing at a whopping 4ft 11inches tall but her character and caliber was at least 10 feet tall. Edith didn't take no stuff, she was affectionately known as Eddie, everyone loved her.
Edith favorite scripture was Psalm 139. She was baptized at Second Macedonia Baptist Church led by Reverend Harold R. Jolley.
On Thursday, July 6, 2023 God called Edith home. She leaves to cherish her fine memories: granddaughter, Fahima; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brother, Jake Abraham and sister, Eleanor Murphy.
