Daniel Clarkson

January 23, 1938 ~ January 23, 2021 (age 83)

Daniel Clarkson, affectionately known as “Danny C,” was born January 23,1938 to the late Roosevelt Clarkson and the late Margaret Clarkson Walton in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

He had one sister, Gertrude and a brother, Roosevelt, Jr., aka as “Sonny” both preceded him in death.  He has two siblings from his father’s second marriage, Ronald and Deborah Ann.

Daniel was educated in the Philadelphia School System.  After graduating from Overbrook High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he received training as an electrician.  He was Honorably discharged after four years of service.

Daniel was married to Gloria Maxine Medley in 1956.  Out of this union were born two daughters and a son.

As a private citizen he was employed by the Philadelphia General Electric Company.  He applied and was hired by The Philadelphia School District as an Electrician.  He was re-assigned to Jackson Elementary School in South Philadelphia as an NTA, (Non-Teaching Assistant).  He enjoyed this position immensely.  He loved the children and they loved him; he was their Mentor as well as Disciplinarian. He was beloved by his co-workers. He retired after Twenty-Two years. He was a dedicated and hard worker maintaining a full-time job along with his Personal Business Venture, The Tender Touch Lounge, which he initially acquired with his Father and Brother, (Sonny), then became Sole owner. The Business flourishes to this day under the management of his Son, Michael.

Daniel departed this life Saturday morning, January 23, 2021 at home with his Wife and Daughter by his side. He leaves to cherish his memory: his lovely and devoted wife, Gloria; daughters, Lynn Degree, Kia Clarkson Twyman, (Mark), Robin Black (Michael), Andrea; one son, Michael Anthony.
