Carolyn Jean Harvey was born on October 7, 1944 in New York, New York to the late Inez Woods and the late Wilburt Spruille.
Carolyn was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System and attend Girls High School.
Carolyn resided in South West Philadelphia with her mother, Inez Woods until she met and married James Franklin Harvey and resided in the Wynnefield section of Philadelphia and in 1980 moved to Ardmore, Pennsylvania.
Carolyn retired as a Customer Service Manager at Acme Markets after many years of service to the community.
Carolyn loved and adored her family. She especially enjoyed times that were spent together at the beach.
Carolyn had a unique style of fashion and was always dressed beautifully.
Carolyn had a passion for the Word of God and studied it faithfully. She enjoyed attending church services and watching religious services on television.
Carolyn joined Memorial Church of God In Christ in Haverford, Pennsylvania under the pastorate of Elder Nathaniel Porter and served as a faithful member under the current pastorate of Elder Daren Miller until her health no longer allowed. She served as a member of the Usher Board, Christian Women’s Council (CWC) and the Women’s Department of Memorial Church of God In Christ.
Carolyn was also very faithful in serving in the West Philadelphia District of the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction and especially in the Women’s Department attending services and meetings on a regular basis.
Carolyn was an active staff member of Janis Ruise Ministries and was the liaison for the ministry in supporting the residents at a local facility for women in recovery. She organized Bible Study and various activities. Through her efforts, clothing was provided as well as holiday meals and gift baskets.
Carolyn was preceded in death by: husband, James Franklin Harvey, Sr., daughter Tanya Spruille and granddaughter, Nadiyah Thompson and brother, Roger Miller.
Carolyn departed this world in peace on Sunday, May 9, 2021.She leaves to cherish her memory: sons, Wilbert Tasco, Jr. and James Franklin Harvey, Jr.; one daughter-in-law, Robin Michele; grandchildren, Safia, David, Frank, Lauren, Trey, Moses, Lucky, Ciara, James, III, Ali, Elijah, Alyia; great-grandchildren, Carey (CJ), Morgan, Brooke, Zaynah, Muadth, Layla, Maysarah, Zaharia; great-great grandchild; Giovanni; sisters-in-law, Louis, Mildred and Bernadine; brothers-in-law, Robert, Jr. and Marshall; an aunt, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, church family and dear friends, Christine Anderson and Evangelist Janis Ruise.
