Angela Belton Obituary

Angela Geneva Belton was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on April 3, 1945, to the late Thomas and Ruth Belton. Angela was the second eldest of five children born from this union.

Angela, affectionately known as “Ann or Angie,” was educated in the Philadelphia school district and graduated from Simon Gratz High School. Angela moved to California where she worked as a seamstress for many years.

Upon moving back to Philadelphia to be closer to her family, she opened her own storefront, which was known to the local children as Miss Ann’s Store (Snookie’s).

Later, Angela met her life partner, Isaiah McCray, and they shared an indescribable bond for over 40 years.

Ann loved her family. She played a major part in the Belton village, helping her siblings & cousins raise their children from one generation to the next.

Angela truly enjoyed sewing, shopping, and day trips to the casino with her sister Elaine, but had no problem going alone.

Angela was known for her Feistiness and “OOOHH Chile.” She had a way with words. Angela’s favorite sayings were: “I don’t have time for the RHETORIC,” “You can 86 that,” “Honey Hush,” and "Chile Please." Everyone that knew her knew she kept it “R-E-A-L.”

In addition to her parents, Angela was preceded in death by her elder sister, Delores R. Williams.

Angela leaves to cherish her life: one brother, Cleveland Belton; two sisters, Elaine Boone (Ray McCray) & Selina Curry; a host of special & great nieces and nephews, including Tracy Williams; a selected few good girlfriends including Diane & Eva; one goddaughter, Dana; special second cousin, Synobia Belton; and an extra special great niece, Imani A. White.

Lovingly and prayerfully submitted,
