The Obituary
Aaron B. Cottman was born on December 29, 1970 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was the beloved son of Edythe and the late Carl Anderson.
Aaron attended Frankford High School, where he excelled at basketball and won a city championship. Upon graduation, he enrolled at Bloomsburg University, where he majored in Criminal Justice. Aaron also created the first Hip-Hop call in radio show at WHSK, The Husky, Bloomsburg’s student radio station. Aaron, who was better at social activities more than he was academic disciplines, pushed himself beyond his perceived limits and graduated with honors.
Aaron soon found himself following in his beloved father’s footsteps and enrolled in the police academy for the Philadelphia Housing Authority. While he enjoyed his time there, he eventually transferred to the Philadelphia Police Department where he served honorably at the 25th district for well over two decades.
In his spare time, Aaron enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid traveler. He loved The Mets and would catch a game whenever he could. On a lazy afternoon, you could find him playing Call of Duty for hours on end, watching Marvel movies, giving advice to his friends and instilling in his children the importance of hard work, education, dedication and love.
He will be remembered for his love and ambition; his quick wit and a wisdom that defied his young age. Aaron was never too big to admit a mistake and was humble enough to give credit to everyone but himself. He was patient and kind, and always the life of the party. He was the rock of his family, and a constant source of love, light and laughter for all he encountered.
On Wednesday, September 21, 2022, God called Aaron home, where he joins his grandparents and his father, Carl. He is survived by his partner, Diana, his mother Edythe, his brother David, his children Kiarra, Aaron (AJ) and Sofia and countless friends, family and coworkers who will love him eternally.
